DEVELOPMENT OF THE MOONEE PONDS CREEK DRAINAGE SYSTEM
Artists Book, (2018)
Development of the Moonee Ponds Creek Drainage System, is a modified facsimile of an unpublished survey by the Melbourne Metropolitan Board of Works, from 1981. It is a comprehensive history of dredging, diversion, concrete-lining and associated drainage works conducted along the Moonee Ponds Creek since european settlement. The document was compiled to justify these works but was withheld prior to publication due to increased environmental scrutiny and community dissent. This version is a reproduction of a final draft obtained through private sources. An additional Appendix E: Fountains for Moonee Ponds Creek, has been produced including extended interview transcriptions with members of the Friends of Moonee Ponds Creek, and photographs documenting the sculptural interventions of the same name conducted in the Creek's concrete channel in 2017-18. Five copies were produced and accessioned into library collections in Melbourne, extending the metaphor of circulation at the heart of the project.
